This article examines the historical development of the English language from its earliest forms to contemporary usage, highlighting the linguistic, cultural, and social factors that shaped its transformation. Beginning with Old English, influenced by Germanic tribes, the study traces changes through Middle English, Early Modern English, and the emergence of present-day varieties. Special attention is given to the impact of invasions, technological progress, globalization, and digital communication on vocabulary expansion and grammatical shifts. The article also analyzes the rise of modern slang as a dynamic component of today’s English, reflecting youth culture, internet trends, and rapid societal change. The findings demonstrate that English is a living, evolving system, continuously adapting to the needs of its speakers
