Abstract

This article explores the vital role of books in human life, emphasizing their historical, spiritual, and educational significance. The author reflects on Uzbekistan’s deep-rooted reading culture and highlights current national efforts to promote book readership, especially among the youth. The piece critically examines inappropriate book selections for certain age groups and offers practical recommendations. Additionally, the article suggests expanding public access to literature through local libraries, markets, clinics, and transportation. The benefits of reading for mental health and social empathy are also discussed, reinforcing the importance of fostering a reading habit from an early age
