Abstract

As globalization advances and intercultural communication becomes more prominent, foreign language education has shifted its focus from purely linguistic competence to the development of intercultural communicative competence [6]. Literary texts play a crucial role in this process, as they reflect cultural values, worldviews, and social norms [3]. This article explores the pedagogical potential of Alisher Navoi’s literary works in developing intercultural competence in foreign language classes. Drawing on theories of intercultural education and literary didactics [2; 5], the study analyzes how Navoi’s humanistic ideas, symbolic imagery, and philosophical reflections can be integrated into foreign language teaching. The article argues that Navoi’s works not only enhance learners’ linguistic skills but also foster cultural awareness, empathy, and critical thinking, which are essential components of intercultural competence [7].
