The development of professional competencies among pre-service english teachers

Abstract

The development of professional competencies among pre-service English teachers is a key objective of modern higher education systems. This article explores the core professional competencies required for effective English language teaching and examines pedagogical approaches that support their development. Using a qualitative analysis of academic literature and teacher education practices, the study highlights the importance of competency-based education, reflective practice, and the integration of modern teaching technologies. The findings indicate that a systematic and practice-oriented approach significantly enhances the professional readiness of future English teachers.
