Allusion as a Pragmatic Device in “An Unfinished Story”

This article examines the role of allusion as a pragmatic device in the literary work “An Unfinished Story.” The study explores how allusive expressions contribute to implicit communication, characterize protagonists, and reveal ideological and emotional meanings within the narrative discourse. The research analyzes literary, cultural, and psychological allusions from a pragmatic perspective in order to determine their communicative functions and interpretative effects. The findings demonstrate that allusions significantly enrich the semantic structure of the text by creating intertextual connections and encouraging readers to engage in deeper interpretation. Furthermore, allusions function as effective tools for expressing hidden intentions, emotional tension, irony, and social criticism.
