Modern trends in english language teaching: global shifts in 2025-2026
Annotatsiya
This article explores the main trends influencing English Language Teaching (ELT) in 2025–2026. Based on recent research and educational practices, it discusses how Artificial Intelligence (AI), modern technologies, new assessment methods, and the needs of a global multilingual workforce are changing the way English is taught. Today, around 1.75 billion people are learning English worldwide, and the digital ELT market is expected to reach $15.98 billion in 2026. The study focuses on five key areas: AI-based personalized learning, technology integration, communicative competence, assessment reform, and teacher professional development. The findings show that although technology plays an important role in language education, human factors such as motivation, empathy, and effective feedback are still essential for successful learning.
